I was looking after my 5 year old son and his friend on Wednesday afternoon and my son decided he wanted to go to the park near us to play.
So I spent the afternoon sliding down skateboarding ramps on my bum, running in the woods, getting muddy, jumping over things, pretending to be the Joker (they were of course Batman and Robin), crawling through bushes down by the river and swing off pretty much anything and everything we could find.
What I noticed though was how relaxed, energised and positive I felt after and thinking about it that night I realised it was because I had just let go of all the day to day activities and lists that run around in our heads and just played.
Which made me think about the power of play and how we can be more posotive and creative by truly playing.
So if you have kids, relatives kids etc. I thoroughly recommend forgeting all about the washing, cleaning, what has to go to the dump, who needs paid, what shopping needs done, that latest gadget that won't make you any happier but you want it and go and play and let me know how you feel afterwards
